The Sage School presents The Coalition Kitchen Cook Book

In the spring of 2011, students from The Sage School participated in a remarkable endeavor ~ the creation of a cookbook. And not just any cookbook. The Coalition Kitchen is an exceptional compilation of recipes modified to incorporate the use of foods regularly distributed through our Mobile Food Bank program to local families and individuals facing hunger and struggling to make ends meet.
An excerpt from The Coalition Kitchen: "This project started out with an open discussion between the Sage School and The Hunger Coalition. We were looking for meaningful community service projects to engage our students for an extended period of time, and the creative minds at the Coalition asked us if we could combine their ingredients into a series of interesting meals for their clients. We were thrilled."
- Dry pinto beans
- Soy Milk
- Canned Green beans
- Rice
- Canned corn
- Dry Pasta
- Powdered Milk
A special thank you to local chef, Star Weekes, who graciously donated the use of her magnificent kitchen over a period of months as students measured, poured, whipped, diced, baked, fried, and personally tested countless recipes in pursuit of tasty, welcoming, healthful, economical dishes!
