Tyler Davis-Jeffers, President
Tyler joined the Board in 2005. His philanthropic experience lies primarily with children’s programs. These include The Advocates Mentoring Program (Hailey, ID), Outdoor Leadership and Experimental Education Program (Brown University, RI), and The Development and Education Program for Daughters and Communities (Mai Sai, Thailand). Tyler currently works for Pioneer Capital Management, directing their international trading operations. He lives in Ketchum with his wife, Christine, and their three daughters, Charlotte, Norah and Blakeslee.
Harry Weekes, Vice President
Harry joined the Board in the summer of 2010. He has lived in the Wood River Valley for 39 years, since he moved here at the age of 3. Continually thankful to his parents for that move, Harry continues an idealistic quest that centers on the belief that we really can do things better. In the summer of 2009, Harry founded The Sage School, a grades 6-12 school focused on helping teenagers become comfortable and confident citizens who know themselves, know where they are headed, and who are dedicated to making a positive contribution to their communities. He brings this same desire to make a difference to the Hunger Coalition. Harry lives outside of Hailey with his wife Hilary, children Georgia, Penelope, and Simon, and an expanding flock of chickens.
Sarah Shivers, Treasurer
Sarah has been a resident of the Wood River Valley since 2002. Born and raised in Virginia, she moved out West after graduating from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Originally drawn to the mountain lifestyle, Sarah put down permanent roots through her co-ownership of one of the Valley's favorite restaurants, Wiseguy Pizza Pie. In 2009, Sarah joined The Hunger Coalition as a volunteer in a variety of capacities and begins her tenure as Treasurer in early 2011. One of the greatest rewards is to see how the different elements of the organization fit together to accomplish the task of feeding our community's hungry. Her leadership role in the Harvest of Hope Celebration and Holiday Cocktail Party capitalizes on her excellent organizational skills and gives Sarah the opportunity to motivate people from around the community to support The Hunger Coalition. She spends free time skiing, hiking, and getting outdoors with her daughter, Iris.
Brooke E. Bonner
Brooke has been a resident of the Wood River Valley since 1980 and feels a great connection and commitment to this community. While a staff member of the Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in Hailey, Brooke saw the depth of need that exists for some of our neighbors. This need and the belief that a healthy community depends on all of its members having their basic human needs met spurred her to join the founding board of directors of The Hunger Coalition in 2004, serving as President from 2005-2010. She was also a board member of the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley and served on the Blaine County Planning and Zoning Commission for 3 years each. She currently divides her time as the Director of Development for the Animal Shelter and as owner of Green Antelope Gallery. She lives in Bellevue with her husband, Kyle Baysinger, 3 dogs and 4 cats in their little “green” house.
Millie Gaitan-Gonzalez
Millie brings to the Board a wealth of experience from her many years in the the world of social service non-profits and agencies. Previously the Executive Director of La Alianza Multicultural Center, her unique understanding of the diversity across our community lends an important new perspective. Her professional development includes training and participation with Anderson & Anderson and the Western Institute of Organizing & leadership Development for Immigrants & Refugees, AmeriCorps VISTA, and the Idaho Community Action Network, to name a few. Millie's commitment to understanding, respecting and providing assistance to others is lifelong, and integral to her personal philosophy about hunger. In her own words, "I believe we need to look beyond hunger to help individuals thrive and not just survive. We need to assess their strengths and help them figure out how to use their own strengths to move out of the unfortunate situations that forced them to ask for help in the first place".
Kathy Jones
A 20-year Wood River Valley resident who is a true believer in "Live Globally, Act Locally", Kathy Jones has contributed her dedication and support to a handful of community organizations in roles as diverse as Board President, Volunteer, and Teacher. While earlier efforts focused on education, sports, and the arts, her recent introduction to The Hunger Coalition through a collaborative fundraising event with Boulder Mountain Clayworks opened her eyes "to a real need in Blaine County". A former school teacher and accomplished mom, Kathy enjoys being a part of the solution in helping to meet the needs of our community. Kathy currently donates her time to the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, Wood River Community YMCA, NexStage Theater, and Boulder Mountain Clayworks.
Robin Moore Leahy
Robin grew up in the Wood River Valley and has passion to not only give back to her community, but to leave things better than she finds them. Community service was an early priority for Robin, starting in middle school when she helped to start an environmental group called Students for the Earth. Upon graduating from Wood River High School, she moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah. While working toward her B.S. in Marketing and Communication, Robin helped form the Utah branch of the Snowboard Outreach Society (SOS). This program taught hundreds of youth-at-risk self-esteem and empowerment while learning to snowboard. While in school Robin also assisted in starting an alumni magazine and found herself immersed in the fields of graphic design and publishing. She has since worked for several national and regional newspapers and magazines and currently is the Art Director for Sun Valley Magazine, all while keeping her private graphic design business thriving. In addition, she and her husband operate the hardwood flooring business they started while living in Utah. Upon her return to the Wood River Valley in 2003, she began to lend her graphic design services to several local non-profits including The Hunger Coalition. She joined The Hunger Coalition Board of Directors in January 2007. Robin resides in Bellevue with her husband, Bob, and their children Alex and Elliott.
