Your Contribution Helps STOP HUNGER in Blaine County

Since 2003, our mission has been to end hunger in our community by providing wholesome food to those in need. Your investment improves the lives of the hungry by connecting them with the food they need and the services available locally to help them achieve long-term economic security. In addition, your support helps us address the underlying causes of hunger through community awareness, advocacy and policy change.

Join our Open Hands Club...  open_hands_club_icon

and help fight hunger all year long. For as little as 33 cents a day ($10 a month) you can join our special group of supporters that give recurring online donations each month. You choose the amount. Feeding hope monthly can cost less than dining out, a pair of movie tickets, or the latest pair of shoes. This saves us time and precious resources and ensures that those in need in our community are receiving vital help year-round. To join this group, simply click on the Donate Now button and check the box that says, "I want to make a recurring donation every Month".

In Kind Donation Opportunities

As a non-profit organization, we strive to spend every precious donor dollar on our vital programs, providing food assistance and empowerment opportunities for local individuals and families facing hunger.  Things like office furniture, general supplies, and oil changes for our Mobile Food Bank Van are necessary to keep us operating on a daily basis, but do not top our list of necessary expenses.  The Hunger Coalition would prefer not to spend money on these mkinds of things, if we can avoid it.  Maybe you can help?  Please review our  In Kind Donation Opportunities.  Your charitable gift of a lamp, garden hose or ream of paper does make a difference!

Leverage Your Gift

Did you know that a $10 gift can stretch to $100 worth of food in our hands? Thanks to our partnership with state and national hunger relief agencies, we can purchase food at tremendous discounts. When you donate money instead of food, we are able to leverage that gift significantly and purchase exactly what we need when we need it!

New Tax Law Extends Donations from IRAs

On October 3, 2008, President Bush signed into law the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover (Tax Extenders and Alternative Minimum Tax Relief Act of 2008, H.R. 1424). The extension will allow individuals 70 and older to donate tax-free up to $100,000 from their IRAs to charities such as The Hunger Coalition. The provision expires in December 2009 but offers new flexibility for giving right now.
