I.  Educational Workshop Series

healthy

Intergal to our mission of ending hunger in Blaine County is the need to address the underlying problems associated with hunger. Employment opportunities are the most visible, but not the only way to transition out of food insecurity.  Managing a household budget, making more informed decisions about food and nutrition, understanding the value of cooking with "whole" ingredients - all are important elements to creating greater self-sufficiency and saving money, especially in challenging economic times.

II. Client Mentoring Program

In response to the continuing level of need and desperation throughout our community, computerwe designed the Client Mentoring Program to increase employment potential and access to job opportunities, build self confidence, and offer our clients concrete and tangible assistance as they strive to transition out of food insecurity.

The Client Mentoring Program brings together qualified volunteers from the community with clients interested in improving their computer skills, increase their familiarity with Internet navigation and operation, create resumes and write cover letters, and learn about self-promotion and basic marketing.

Starting in February 2012, Open Computer Lab becomes available for clients of The Hunger Coalition, The Advocates and St. Luke's Center for Community Health twice a month at The College of Southern Idaho's Blaine Campus.  Call Sharon at 788-0121 or email sdohse@thehungercoalition.org to learn more about this unique opportunity.
