The Hunger Coalition is committed to working directly with our clients to assist in their transition out of food insecurity and encourage them to become healthy contributing members of our community.
Client Empowerment Services:
-
Confidential Client Screening provides a private and secure setting where clients can discuss their personal situation, problems they are facing, and divulge their financial concerns. Our trained Client Resource Manager addresses community assistance resources, introduces statewide programs where applicable, and helps create a general household budget outlining areas where money can be saved or expenses reduced. Personal goals are identified and levels of assistance are assessed. With the assignment of a Food Card, clients and their families have access to wholesome food on a weekly basis through our Mobile Food Bank. Follow up meetings ensure goals are accomplished, levels of need are adjusted accordingly, and the client can continue to work towards a position of security and self sufficiency.

-
Educational Workshops open new doors to both clients and community members looking to improve their health and well-being on personal, nutritional and financial levels. Incorporating cooking and nutrition classes, coupon workshops, and growing your own vegetables and herbs, these Educational Workshops address lifestyle options and issues that can make a real difference for people struggling to make ends meet.
-
Client Mentoring Program offers a unique opportunity for clients to improve their income potential, find employment, and pursue other vital job-related goals and endeavors. The involvement of dedicated community members willing to contribute their professional experience and expertise is essential to this program.
Through a unique collaboration with The College of Southern Idaho, we are hosting select Open Computer Lab sessions at The Community Campus in Hailey. These classes are only available to clients of The Hunger Coalition, The Advocates, or St. Luke's Center for Community Health.
We are also excited to offer clients access to classes & workshops at the computer work stations in our second floor offices. Clients and Mentors meet in a semi-private environment to develop resumes, complete job applications, write cover letters, design business cards or flyers, and other important projects. To learn about how you can become a Mentor, please call Sharon at 788-0121 or email: Sdohse@thehungercoalition.org.
