How do I donate Food?

You can drop off all non-perishable food in one of our Bloom Bins, located at many grocery stores throughout the valley.

Or, drop by Bloom Community Food Center M-Th 9-5.

How can my school or business hold a food drive?

Food Drives are a great way to help us raise awareness for our mission and donate good food!*
We’d be happy to deliver “Bloom Bins” for the collection of canned and boxed items.

We’ve also included a Top 10 List of needed items below.

  1. Canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.)
  2.  Healthy cereal
  3. Dry legumes (beans, lentils, etc.)
  4. Cooking oils
  5. Nut Butter 
  6. Dry grains (rice, barley, etc.)
  7. Maseca/flour
  8. Shelf stable alternative milks
  9.  Canned soups
  10. Canned vegetables

*Consider making an online donation instead! Our purchasing power can double your dollar and provide more fresh food for people in Blaine County. 

I have a birthday, wedding, or event coming up.

Can I have my guests donate in lieu of gifts?

Absolutely! We’d be honored to celebrate your big day with you. Please email development@thehungercoalition.org to find out how.

Is my donation tax deductible?

What is your EIN (tax-id) number?

Yes. We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax –deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.

Our EIN number is 72-1582755. Please keep a copy of your email receipt as your official record.

How do I give a gift in honor of or in memory of someone?

We’d be happy to send a special note to a friend or loved one on your behalf. Simply check the “Dedicate this gift” box during your online donation, and complete the questions about your dedication. If you’d like the person you’re honoring to instantly receive an email about your gift, fill out that portion of the form. If you’d prefer a physical notecard to be sent, please reach out to us with details at development@thehungercoalition.org or 208-788-0121.

Are there other ways to give?

The Hunger Coalition accepts donations via stock, ACH, wire transfer, qualified charitable distributions (QCD) from an IRA and donor-advised funds.

We do not currently accept crypto donations, but please reach out and let us know if it would be of interest to you to give in that way.

Can I manage my monthly donations or donor profile?

To manage your donor profile – including changing or canceling recurring donations – please contact us at development@thehungercoalition.org or 208-788-0121, and we’d be happy to help you.

What are the fees associated with my donation? 

Cash & Check – There are no fees 

Credit card and ACH bank transactions incur a small fee from our payment processor Stripe. Depending on the transaction, fees range from 2% – 4%. An additional 1% fee is added to all Amex transactions.  Covering this fee means 100% of your intended gift goes to our mission. A BIG thank you to our 91% of donors who cover processing fees so that more funds can be applied directly to the Bloom Community.
